Has anybody tested the size of the image circle on the new Nikon CX lenses? As in not the sensor size of the J1/V1, but the actual size of the projected circle at the correct flange distance
Hold the lens at the distance of the film plane and see what image it projects.
Most lenses don't have much extra in the way of coverage, but some zooms do. Even so, the IQ typically degrades in the area outside of the specified circle of coverage.
4K certainly seems possible given the size of the sensor is smaller = less data to process
My original reason for wanting to measure the image circle is something different however - if the nikon 1 lenses do indeed project something significantly larger than the current sensors, we might be seeing future Nikon 1's with larger sensors..... (although certainly nothing larger than micro 4/3)
Can anyone confirm? Holding the lens with a flashlight shining through at the correct distance (same as the distance it would be to the sensor/film plane) to a piece of paper should be enough to measure the size of the circle
