That is correct for taking meter reading for Einstein but unable to get any meter reading using CC and regular speed light.

maybe the light output is too low on the speedlight to register?

It looks like CC work with only PCB receivers to get meter reading. It looks like I need CSRB+ receiver to trigger my speed light and get meter reading. I was using other/ Cactus V5 transceivers with my speed lights.

I guess I should probably update you on my purchase.

I did end up getting an L-358 from KEH for $225 in LN condition. I haven't received it yet, but when I do and I actually get a day off work I will put it to some good use.

I just got to use my L-358 for the first time. I must say this has REALLY helped on my setup time! It also was a big help on my post processing time as well! I was taking Christmas pics of my son and didn't have to touch the exposure slider at all. Nor did I have to pull out a brush to pull down some of the highlights on his face. I was really surprised as to how easy it is to use. Thought it would be a little more difficult.

Sekonic has a program for students and educators where a brand new L-358 is $239 with free shipping. Search for sekonic education pricing

Also works for anything distributed by Mac group (Profoto, Tenba, Benro, etc.) Lots of good prices.

Has anyone tried the L478DR after upgrading from the 358? Just curious as it seems like it can do a lot but wondering if I need all the bells and whistles

I downgraded from L758DR to L478DR. L758DR has better build but L478DR can control the flash output.

If I had Paul C. Buff or Elincrom strobes I'd be sorely tempted to get Pocket Wizard ControlTL modules for them, and then get the L-478 meter. Even using just Speedlites I'd be tempted, were it not for the new -RT system from Canon.

the PW remotes only give you 6 of the 9 stops of range of the einstein and addition are 3x the price. I like the cyber system and the built in meter has worked fantastic for me. I don't even get my sekonic out in the studio.

I don't have einstein and I use it for AB 1600 and Canon 580 EX II.
