Even at this price, it's still only $200 less than I paid in March and the thing has paid for itself 10x over by this point. What's the big deal here? Why are people all excited about a $200 price drop over 8 months? Sounds about average to me. It's two hundred freakin' dollars people, this isn't a poor man's hobby or profession, if $200 makes or breaks the deal then it's time to look for a lower-end body.

$200 is still $200. And maybe some people couldn't pay back then because they haven't saved up enough. I myself made a pre-order on the announcement date, but it doesn't mean I can justify how others should spend their money.
Anyhow, based on the recent eBay/Beach/Adorama deals, $3,200 is not a good deal. You can find a new one at around $3,000 if you look hard enough. A bunch of people bought new one in the $2,700-$2,800 price range.

It's not that they're broke, or can't afford to buy the camera at that price. They just want to get a better price than their friends did so they can have the respective bragging rights.
