The Phottix Aion is a well designed radio remote that also has an intervalometer.

I read a bunch of reviews on the Vello? Shutterboss and the cheaper Vello version as well, people seemed very happy with them for short $ compared to anything OEM

I've tried several wireless remotes, and my favourite by far is the RFN-4s. No wires to plug in, it's small enough that it can stay on the camera all the time if you want without getting in the way, and the range is excellent.

I use this one:

Inexpensive, tiny, lives on the D800 and works as advertised.

Can you do long timed exposures with this one? I believe you can with the mc-36 which is wired of course but seems a useful feature for those of us that get distracted counting down the minutes!
