Hey guys, I know a lot of people have been posting little reviews here and there of this camera, but figured I would share my thoughts and more importantly and in depth look at the cameras ISO capabilities and Dynamic range at various ISOs.

Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think.

fantastic review! And don't worry much 'bout spelling and grammahhh errors. ;-0 So many posts have "bad" English and people are fast to criticize (yours is just fine)...half the time you look and they are in Denmark or Germany. And you think hey...their English is amazing, I can barely handle one language.

Hey Joe,

Well written and carefully thought out. many thanks BUT it doesnt help my NAS one little bit. Just when I convince myself that my D7k is more than enough camera for me, reviews like yours come along

at the risk of being accused of hijacking your thread i will expand on what Ben had to say about the spelling troll. It would be grand if when readers went to the Hide Me button it sent a message directly to the person that they had been hidden. Ultimately the trolls like Adamo99 and agelessphoto would go back to where they came from.

Thanks again Joe

Cheers from downunder

Tim

I have been a little reluctant to prematurely praise the D600 simply because it didn't have the "wow" factor for my purposes that, say, the D3S did on its release. After using it now since I got one of the first bodies out, I have to say... DAMN. The IQ it delivers is absolutely stunning. At around ISO3200 I might start to take the D3S over it. But anything under that, it has the best IQ of any camera body I've ever laid my grubby paws on. Today I shot 700+ images of Varsity womens rugby at ISO800 in

My sentiments exactly!

I stopped reading after finding three sloppy spelling errors in the first paragraph alone.

This is the kind of thing that should just stay in your head. When you put it in print it just makes you look kinda jerky.

joergeske- awesome review and thanks for putting that together. Funny you mention the shutter sound. One of the things that I really liked about the D600 is its softer shutter sound (soft yet still snappy, unlike the D40/D60's soft and slow) Coming from the D700, this is a welcome change. The D700's mirror slap was like a thunderclap. I went to a friend's wedding and my D700 was louder than the official photog, who was using some Canon body

Just got back from my first engagement shoot with the camera, and the big take away was skin tones. They are just better than traditional nikon tones, almost canon like. Like many others I have missed the tones and color you get from canon sooc, but wow this D600 just blew me away. Things were a bit blue (just like canon), but really have to say I am impressed. I spent the evening alternating between the d600 and the d800. Ended up with the d800 as the light finally faded away because those outer focus points on the d600 finally

As a former D700 shooter skin tones are what brought me back to the Canon camp. Glad you posted this statement. It has inched me closer into D600 territory...
