I have the manual in a Zip format that is a jpeg of each dual page.
I also have the parts list in a pdf format. [email protected] if you need either, or both.

+1.
I have shot 200 f/1.8s since 2006. Not even once they have been mounted on a pod, always handheld, for several hours if need be, even at shutter speed values as low as 1/200 sec.
What does help me holding the lens is the RRS replacement foot which I can grip more securely than the stock foot.
+1 for Zeck cap w/o the handle. Use it on my 200/2 and it's way better than the canon provided cover.
Lens coat works like a champ too.. I am not babying my 200/2 by any means and the lens coat has protected it like nobody's business. Hardly a scratch. The $120+ you'd spend on it is worth it in resale value down the road.
Tripod?
Monopod?
Totally depends on what your shooting. For me and my family, (we own two 200/1.8's), we shoot 99% handheld. It's just much easier to track and follow the action that we are so close to: http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll83/UTHammy/Other/ANMRE-CMH-200.jpg
(at age 7, the camera/lens weigh 1/5 her own body weight)
Thanks, and this: http://www.adorama.com/CA48DIFH.html
Canon 48 Drop-in Filter Holder (Accepts 48mm Screw-in filters). Fits EF 200mm F/1.8L
Though, I don't know if these are still available new, hopefully still available used.
Ed, to the best of my knowledge, RRS is the only available 200 f/1.8 replacement foot. The others might have had some sort of a plate to bolt to the stock foot, I am not sure. Be that as it may, I think the RRS foot works great.
Thanks Peter.
I tried the side kick tonight.
I think I need a different style ballhead, I kinda didn't like my limited try with the side kick.
I will get another ball head and try again.
I have the Wimberly P-20 plate.
I will have to get the RRS foot.

Peter, why do you say the RRS foot helps handholding. Now I pretty much put the foot at the top of the lens when I handhold.
He, he.....then in your case the foot will not help any. I should have said the RRS foot helps tose folks who like myself have the foot rest on the palm of their left hand.

The foot on the 100-400L is great for hand holding.
I fin the 200/1.8L is much more heavier, and more difficult.
I think I may need to practice more.
The stock 200 f/1.8 foot is tiny and it doesn't have enough length for a solid handgrip.....as a result, 200 f/1.8 feels even more awkward when handholding it than it should .
Again, that applies only to those folks who grip the foot when handholding the lens.
I have the replacement foot on my 200, and like a few others, I shoot with it 99% of the time handheld for indoor sports. The only time I use a monopod with it is when I add a TC and go to field sports. It is heavy, but weight is all relative and what you get used to. Good form and conditioning will help you handhold this beast for several hour events.
Sugoi!
I put on a Kenko 12mm extension tube, and the lens AFs!
So I then put the full set of 3 tubes, it STILL AFs!
With the switch in the 2.5m - 5m range, I didn't measure it, but it looked about 2 FEET from the lens.
This is going to be great, no more huge crops needed.
Perhaps all/some of you already knew this.
I did not, seems I tried tubes on the 24-105L, and it didn't AF?
Perhaps I was not in the focus range.
Do all AF lens AF with tubes?
