N.B: I have to add this note. Thank you guys at this forum. Everywhere I read about this lens, the note was it is difficult to use. Having been around following all the posts and looking at the incredible pictures, when I decided to get this lens, I already knew what to expect from it and didn't feel awkward using it the first time. If I have to say one post that helped immensely, it is the "post your setup" post. Wow! still, I have no clue how anyone could use a tripod for shooting with this lens. Hopefully I'd learn how to get the background right instead of BLACK. Not a "vote of thanks" but a very sincere thank you indeed!
If you use flash you will get light falloff behind the subject unless there is something like foliage, for example, close behind. Also, a significant area of very pale subject matter, such as that fluffy whitish plant material, will influence the camera meter to make the rest of the picture darker, unless you compensate for it.
Thanks Harold. will keep that in mind. composition and metering at macro level seems difficult to me at this moment in time. I need a lot of practice I guess.
a good start , it does take a bit of practise
try placing a leaf behind to prevent black background , or shoot higher iso to ballance natural light in background. iso 600 works well
