Do you mean those little plastic thingies that slip over the rings? Kinda useless if you ask me. Why do you need them? If you pay for shipping, I'll give you mine...if I can find them. They may have hit the garbage.
I abuse my cameras and straps (when I use straps, which is almost never), and I've never had the strap shred. They should be built better than that! Let me look around here...
OK, I dug my original D700 strap out of a box...and indeed the covers are still there. I am fairly mechanically inclined, and I cannot for the life of me see how these things would protect the strap itself from anything.
I'm not sure what a letter from Winnipeg, postal code R3C1P9, to your neck of the woods costs, but it can't be too much.
Seriously though, I would reconsider the circumstances that your original strap shredded under. I can't see these things doing anything worthwhile at all with respect to protecting the strap.
DTOB, the strap ring protectors are not on the straps themselves. They are snapped onto the triangular split rings on the body. I think you may be thinking of the the rectangular pieces on the strap which are not the same thing.
No, I understood the OP perfectly. It is my belief that they dont protect the strap itself at all, and that they are meant to protect the body itself, as pointed out by a previous poster.
The OP, Jon and I have been pm'ing, and ill be sending him the correct parts as promised.
Jon, I dropped one of the D700 ones into the abyss that is the back side of my desk, it is gone forever.
So, I grabbed the second one from my FE2.. or was it my F3..whatever. You'll still be getting 3 of them, and I'll be dropping them in the mailbox at lunch.
