It's been windy, snowing, cold, and dark out lately so I was playing around with the camera inside when the sun finally started to shine through the window. I forgot however that I had left the DP2M at ISO 1600 from the night before. I thought it might be helpful to show more examples of the noise pattern from this camera. This is by no means a good shot. Just posting to show the noise.
ISO 1600, 1/500, f/2.8 - only minor adjustments in SPP:

Thanks for the comments. Banding seems to be unavoidable with long shutter times AND cold weather. Some of the photos were taken at -30°c, and the battery lasted for 7-8 shots It's visible in raw files, and of course becomes more visible during final post processing. I tried to implement banding removal in SPP, but one needs to make a compromise between maintaining extreme sharpness and removing banding on cold weather shots. It's a shame, but I guess it's something I have to live with.

Thank you so much for this REAL USER feedback.
It seems that with hot weather and long use (camera heating) the same occurs.
You live in a cold place indeed ,-) and beautiful.
What type of banding removal did you try? The one that was presented earlier in this thread or your own recipe.
Cold weather performance is quite important to me as well, so thank you for the feedback on that.
Did you store the spare battery in your coat pocket? / Henrik

Interesting.. Especially the "macro" part in lens ring
Macro is interesting. Very interesting. However, given the way the DP2M handles I hope it is a little bit better in that regard. The focal length? Hmm, I don't know.
Both the DP1M and DP2M make good sense to me. The DP3M might turn out to be a terrific though slightly limited camera. I am not sure, but it might perhaps work for portraits as well. I don't like the grip on the DP cameras, but that can be rectified of course.

There are a couple of things I would like to interject on this thread even though I haven't read everything here.
Someone mentioned the Sigma 30mm 1.4 early on. I loved that lens! I'm shooting full frame and can no longer use it to it's full potential. I sold it since it did not do well on my Nikon D60 converted to IR. It had a terrible hot spot when using it for IR. Speaking of IR, it would be fantastic if these Sigma Merrills were available in an IR version. Thinking of emailing one of the after market conversion services to inquire.
