Great stuff, Jim. I just can't decide on a favorite, I like the features on each perspective. If I were to take the easy way out, it would be to pick the last for its clarity.
Great captures.

Thanks so much Bart, I am really gald you liked that one.

Jim, I would be going for #1. I like the comp better. I did not read through the entire post, but were you using a lightning trigger (never mind!...ugh)? Your lightning fast trigger finger! ;-) Also, maybe it is the image size, but anyway you could bring out the lightning more (ND grad in PS)?...I am heading out to Vegas for a shoot this week, and I am going to keep this area in mind. Thanks Jim!

Ha ha... thanks! Nope, no Lightning Trigger, though this has me thinking on getting one. Basically I just set up an exposure of about 1 sec for the most part, and then Had my Remote Release locked in and just let the camera fire away... It missed some, but I did catch these two strikes. Ofcourse I did miss like 3 other strikes that happened just as I picked up my camera to move it to a new composition...
Really sweet shots, Jim. Great catches of the lightning.
I kinda wish the fg colors weren't quite so vivid, but that's prolly just me.
The 1st is my fave, too.
Jim,
Nice captures and I like the foreground composition. If I had to frame only one - well it would be a tough call. I like both crops. pic #2 crop took out a tad too much of the dramatic sky so pic #4 would be my choice - it has it all.
