Aside from the fact that I can not separate the lens from the body, the pair do work quite well together. The original box, charger, and all that jazz (less the XQD stuff) is included as well as the trunk case for the 400. There are ~69k on the shutter.

I don't mean to be a smart a$$ but are you serious when you say you "can't separate the lens from the body?" Is that the reason you are listing it as an 8?

Unfortunately that is exactly correct. Wouldn't be a big deal if I had a second body that was good for sports/action but shooting volleyball with the D800 isn't much fun when I should be using my D4.

well you never need to clean that sensor
Almost forgot about that, it should be noted that the sensor isn't exactly clean at the moment. If anyone is seriously interested I can stop her down to 22 and get a shot to see how bad it is.

I don't know how it happens, but I'm not happy about it.

If I had full intentions of buying, I'd like to know the full details. Like some people, it's a bit out of my budget so I will just be considerate of the seller and leave him alone.

Open that it's stuck together.. but why/how. Inquiring minds want to know.
Believe me, my mind is inquiring too and would like to know how it happened. The release pin on the body seems to be inoperable. I discovered this late afternoon on Monday the 27th of August when I attempted to remove the lens to ad my TC-20e III to the mix.

As stupid as this sounds, have you had someone firmly grasp the lens while you (ever so lightly) twist the camera body back and forth to see if you can get the lens release button to disengage? Just a thought. I used to have a lens (back in the film days) that didn't quite fit right on my F3HP and had a similar problem, but I knew that by "jiggling" it a bit it would eventually come loose.

Clearly, I think you need to send this to Nikon and get the problem taken care of. While waiting for its return, you can rent a combo of body and lens to arrive on the same day you ship yours to Nikon. Good luck.
