Four weeks is on the slow side, no doubt. There are of course examples of long(er) turn around times by other brands, there is no official pro service by Sony and so on... but I think we can agree it simply takes too long time for Sony to fix your camera. It's a big consumer problem in my opinion.

It has been sent from Tromsø to my retailer in Oslo, and from there too Sony in Sweden for service, estimated repair time four weeks. Hopefully I will have it back soon.
Ugh, that's too bad. I wonder if it is country specific? I had a lens repaired by Sony a few years ago, and I don't think it took much longer than a week or so here in the US.

Sony was showing off a new Pro Service at the recent PhotoPlus Expo in NY. Somewhere floating around is a video showing Sony technicians working on lenses and cameras during that expos promoting this new service. I don't know if it's world wide or just for the U.S.
It claims wireless TTL flash triggers on Sony cameras with a list of remote features. Has anyone here tested this? Does TTL compatibility assume the use of Sony flashes?

Generally, the "default/ out of box" color with Sony's Image Data Converter is superior to ACR/LR in that it's much more neutral and accurate. The flip side is that sometimes it does not show as much detail as some other raw converters.

I can see why. So slow. I had hoped for a quick and basic raw converter, but I think I will have to go with LR & PS. I am just not too savvy with those programs.

We also have serious service problems in Australia with Sony. It is well acknowledged with many service centres, and this is my concern with RX1R and the A7r. I know my recent frustrations with Leica, but in most cases they have provided backup lenses and cameras!

Sony told me that if my camera was sent in more than twice they would send me a new one. Also, they said that they pay shipping both ways. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.

I am told my camera is now on it´s way back form service. But like you this makes me a little concerned about my A7r as well. For comparison: my experience with Canon is that they have a service turnaround time of less than a week here in Norway, and their repairs are done in Oslo.
Canon of course have a lot more professional users, but I think Sony needs to improve in this area.
(The failing control wheel of my RX1 seems maybe slightly more sturdy on the A7r, in addition I actually have no use for it the way I have customized the camera now. )

When using the RX1R in Aperture or Manual Mode at f/22 or so the screen gets really dark, so much that I can't compose my picture. Do I compose and focus the picture at f/2 then the set to f/16 or f/22?

Maybe you need to tell the camera not to simulate the result of the exposure. You can try to change the setting in the Menu, Cogwheel, 2, the bottom most setting.

IDC cannot be recommended on several grounds. Colour can be very well rendered but become muddy fast in shadows. Extreme tone changes are badly handled, sharpening is a disgrace, 'affordance' (the ability of the software to indicate what users can do and what a current state actually is) is near to non-existent.

elkabong 62, then I don't know what you need to do. Maybe tell us what the light situation is, what you other settings are (shutter speed, aperture and ISO, if Auto ISO what is the limit?).
I have the Auto ISO limit set pretty high (ISO 25k something) and in A mode I virtually never get a too bright or dark view in the EVF. And that is with the Live View Display set to ON.

Jonas B, changed the Live View Display to off on the menu and the screen still gets dark at f/22.
Mine does this too, but only in dark conditions. It probably has something to do with the camera meters and uses live view in dark conditions.
Either way, to be honest, I've never even shot the camera with an aperture smaller than f11. Diffraction already sets in by f11, so, at f22, you're really robbing yourself of resolution.

Hey guys, what's a good use price for a 3 month old RX1R? The owner claims the camera has about 2500 actuations. It is in mint condition.
Sort of hard to say as the price seems to vary widely. Just looking at ebay completed auctions, some have sold for as little as $2000-$2100 but as much as around 2500 recently. I would say a "good" price would be at that lower range.
edit. $1950 is probably a good deal if it's in Mint shape.
