I have no idea where the industry is headed. I have thoughts about where I'm headed.

Hopefully those two places are different, but if they're not, I just hope I get there first.

Our industry changes so quickly in terms of style and business. Where do you

Where are we headed? 99% of the industry will continue to be followers and not leaders and continue to be sucked in to what they think brides want and continue to produce mediocre work. They will continue to not make what they want and will do what they are forced to do. The other 1% of us will not give 2 shits what brides think or think they want and we will continue to produce what we love and what is fun to us.

As for the industry. It hasn't changed in 100 years. There is no such thing as an industry style and business is still the same. People get married and need photos so they book us. Individual style is something you acquire and achieve on your own. Not something you learn or get from others.

It hasn't changed in 100 years ? Really ? So we're still shooting with 4x5's, souping negatives and producing fiber based black and white prints only ?

Ok, to be specific, technology wise.

I would hate it immensely, but if I had one guess: video with frame extraction for tips. IOW, we'll be hired as videographers, and expected to provide the stills from the video stream. The technology that will allow this with sufficient quality is around the corner if not already here.

This is not going to happen. If anyone actually tried to do this you would see how massively inefficient it is. You can do this now, there is simply no logical reason to do it because is it SO much harder and more cumbersome than just taking the right photo in the first place. This is a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

Agree. I'll also add that physical albums aren't going anywhere.

I cannot say im seeing huge changes. Almost all wedding photographers are shooting the same thing over and over while claiming every wedding is different. The general style has been around for the last 15 years without changing much.

Most copy popular processing styles and then call it their artistic vision.

That does not mean there is not good work going on but the internet resulted in a faster learning curve but with most of us doing the same thing.

Im not sure a lot will change.

Philadelphia is not the same type or size of market as LA/NY. That's the very large markets I'm talking about and that I have experience with. Of course Philly is big but you'd be silly shocked at how big and vast the SoCal market is for photographers. There's 10 photographers on every street corner out here (yes, I'm likening them to people who work on street corners ;-)

Lets have a popcorn and sit back its gonna be Philly v/s LA match

Or to capture the followers. Lol

Seriously dude. Why are you worrying all of a sudden? You and a few others have recently posted topics that come off as o shit I'm doomed what should I do what's changing attitude.

You and the few others recently posted are really good and have nothing to worry about. You're one of the 1% I'm talking about. I guess what immtrying to say and why I've been being a dick to you is because your good man. There are a lot of people that would give their left test to be in your shoes. You don't need to worry where or what the industry wil go or do. You will make the industry get there.

Did my post come off as that ? Worried ? I was only trying to get a discussion going on the future of wedding photography. Better higher res cameras OR better software processing or ? That's all. It wasn't meant to be about the philosophy of wedding photography.
