Fun thread, I've enjoyed looking through your posts.
I spend a lot of time on the bike and have gone through several compacts (Ricoh GR, Sony RX100MIII...) looking for the right combination of size/weight and image quality and keep falling back on the what's already in my jersey pocket, my iPhone. The pano setting has come in handy for some of the sweeping views.
This was taken from the top of The Saddle, looking south over the calla lily fields. Elevation ~800 meters.
This one's also from the top of The Saddle, looking over the north coast. Elevation ~800 meters.
I found myself using the Samsung Galaxy 5s quite a bit on this trip, which was mainly for the purpose of working on our house in Aberdeen. The smartphone came in handy for documenting construction progress (used several times to show examples at Home Depot and other building materials sources), and the odds and ends shots only a carry-around camera can capture. I happily used my Nikon D800e on specific photo jaunts with great results, but that left a lot of opportunities for the less refined camera phone. I'm looking forward to additional refinements in smartphones' camera capabilities.
I do not know for sure about DNG with the Galaxy s5. I was somewhat surprised to see it available using the stock camera app with the Note 5. I don't think the Note 3 I had before did DNG.
My son's school held their annual Christmas Holiday show last night. His class theme was 70's, nailed it...
My only regret with this shot is I used my iPhone 5s instead of my DSLR. My son liked playing the part, and even said he'd dress up again for me to use my "real" camera as he calls it.
