I like #1, I liked it when you first posted it. The concept is how it relates to the environment its in, and #1 does that without showing the actual sculpture, to me that is more unique than photographing the actual sculpture. I am no juror or judge, but if I were, it would be hard to pass that one up.
My thoughts @ the pieces are that the sculpture park's most prominent environmental characteristics are the wooded setting, the pond and the proximity to other sculptures.
Each one was intended to focus on a different characteristic of the park ... hopefully making for a collection/set (not part of the competition) ... yet also stands on its own relative to the artist's original piece, along with an "interpretative" rendering.
They sent the results out in two different emails ... "Aligned" was in the second one. Only 18 pics selected for jury out of the sculpture competition.
I also picked up one in the "regular" competition for "Crossroads" (B&W version) as seen elsewhere in here. 38 pics made it through (out of 234).
Thanks Travis ... yeah, I still haven't figured out how I should get my head wrapped around it. Part of me says be uber-excited. Other parts say to chill ... its one picture on one day (that'll just be a very long day) that someone liked. I'll likely land somewhere between the two.
