one of my favorite subjests to shoot , this is a new species i havnt seen before, smaller than a marsh but bigger than cleg
which do you like best composition wise?
Harold , any id ?
I don't know the tabanids very well but it looks pretty certain to be a Tabanus sp. I suspect that it is T. distinguendus, a widespread species, but you would need to compare at least abdominal markings with validated images. The single eye-band could indicate T. bromius. Essentially, I don't have enough information to get very far, even with other views of the fly.

Having considered it further, I am eliminating T. distinguendus and favouring T. bromius . It could still be yet another species.
