I called and only thing that doesn't make me want to buy is you get a white plain non canon box.... I may be crazy. Let me know if you decide to take the plunge and buy from them. Adorama has it for 950 and I'v been looking to pull the trigger any day now
I saw Beach Camera running the same promo. In fact, the web page design looks nearly the same. So the two business entities are probably related. Beach is legit outfit, I bought my Samyang 35/1.4 from them. No the same level of customer service as Adorama or B&H, but not some fly-by-nighter.
I'm sure these are stripped from 5D2 kits. No harm, no foul, and a great price.
Sorry, the Beach ad looked like is said "USA warranty", which implies Canon USA. I agree, Canon USA is preferable, but it's still better than a used lens with no warranty commonly selling at or above that price.
Yea, I am going to pass on that deal, Can anyone tell me between the two companys, adorama & B&h, which has a better reputation with dealing with problems?
How do Canon manufacturer warranties work? For example, there's a 24-105mm on Craigslist right now that the owner says was bought in 2011 and is from a kit. Would it still be eligible for warranty? Actually, to make the scenario simpler, if that lens had been bought last week as part of a kit and I purchased just the lens from the owner, could I send it to Canon for warranty?
No, its not a good deal. You can purchase kit lenses either new or near new from members here for between $800 and $850. I picked a brand new one up locally on Monday for $800 cash. (date code UA)
You can get the 24-105L from Canon refurbished for $894.20 (that includes the $25 off promotion Canon is running). Gives you a 90 day Canon warranty. I've purchased two lenses from the Canon refurbished site (16-35L and 100L macro). Both look absolutely new. Only difference is the white Canon box. Free shipping, but you have to pay tax.
Try these guys. Very reputable and they are a Canon Authorized Dealer. It comes from a kit but it has a USA warranty for $888.75. I picked one up from them and can verify the warranty, price, and condition.
Better than buying one from an individual that wouldn't have a warranty.
It WAS $799 BIN and THAT would have been a no brainer. New listing @ $906 is not.
A year is a year, kids...nothing to get yer pants in a wad as to who provides it I had the
original "photon torpedo" UT08 date code and rode that sucker for sweet 4+ yrs, made bank.
This lens is widely available used. Chances are if it hasn't broken in the first year it will last for many years with no problem. And you can save even more money.
