Where is this Antartica?

mt washington in new hampshire during winter. winter can start there around the end of september early october and can run into june. full weather observatory on top of it "daunting" 6288 ft. positioned perfectly to having "the worst weather in the world"

during the summer you can drive your car to the summit. during the winter though it just a little more "challenging"

its unique position in the US makes it an outstanding location to study the US environment. the area is referred to as the nations tailpipe to to the prevailing winds that coalesce over it.

in this shot we were up there shooting a documentry on the observatory. temps on the summit got as low as -42f and on the day we left it was +35f summit temp and +60f at the base. i have been up there many times summer and winter.

What I use is the foam, not sure of its exact name, that you put around those add on car flat roof racks so the roof rack doesn't mark your kayak or avoids metal on metal sliding/rattling if you have a ladder or something up there.

Got mine from KMart in NZ, comes in various colours, slit up the length and cut to length, slipped around tripod leg and used duct tape to secure.

If you want good looks, probably not the look you might want to have but if you want functional and ease of carrying over your shoulder, it works, at least for me and was cheap.
