Hi,
This is to inform you all that i ended up purchasing a D7K today, body only.
The decision was more of a gut feel, that's how all my decisions happen, unfortunately.
Somehow, i couldn't bring myself to purchase another OM-D, i already have one as you know. I had thought that i will buy another OM-D so that i won't have to change lenses all the time, and both are anyway similarly resolving bodies.
But then i saw and handled the D7K in the shop, i quite liked it.
Rationalization was ready, i said this to myself: "This will be my back up body to the FF body i will buy in future."
Now i've to be careful in 1) not buying any expensive DX lenses and plan them for my FF body 2) Buy VR lenses only so that i don't regret OM-D purchase in the future
Thanks for your views.
regards,

Smart move Same IQ as the D800 in 1.5 crop mode...in a much lighter/faster/cheaper package.
I have both and will take the D7K on ANY paying gig with total confidence. Learn it, love it.
I have a D700 and D7k and when I don't need the shallow DOF and wider ability I still shoot my D7k over the 700 if just playing around. Was at a wedding recently in Albuquerque NM a few weeks back for my newphews wedding. Used the 700 for the wedding and my 7k when we went up into the mountains with my Tamron 18-270 DX lens. Great little vacation lens for things like that.
Any idea which lenses for D7K?
Don't want to buy DX only lenses as far as possible...
What are the must have DX lenses, anyway...tokina 11-16 and nikon 35 1.8 come to mind.
Another question: i can buy a tele zoom for D7K, or i can pair a tele zoom with my OM-D (100-300 panny)...which route should i go?
Get the 50mm 1.8 G. It is reasonably priced and fantastic. Save for FF lenses like 16-35. Wide there are lots of prime options like 20mm or 24mm 2.8 that cost a lot less. If you want zoom, get a 18-70mm for right now.
I can see you've got some good advices here already. Here is what I think...
I had Nikon D7000 before I got D800. I compared my pics from both cameras and believe
me, the D800 produces better pics, has much better sensor, dynamic range, recovery, FF sensor etc. I'm not even looking at the number of pixels. The much newer D800 is just awesome camera and I know I'll keep it for a while....
I'd suggest getting it, and your 50mm lens first, then after you recover from this one time big expense, adding lenses like Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 or 14-24mm f/2.8.
