Well I have to say I'm impressed. I shipped my 7D off to Canon on friday last week, and got it today! I am CPS gold which means 6 day turnaround (business days). Got it today!
They upgraded the firmware to v2.0, repaired the blown shutter (I was getting ERR 30's), and CLA'd the camera.
I was with another manufacturer before, and the average turnaround was about a month!
I feel the same based on recent servicing in VA. I am in Texas. My 1D Mark III left Monday and was returned for Err 99 repairs Thursday. Gone less than. 72 hours.
Monday at 4 I shipped it 2-day and late afternoon delivery but UPS had it there Tuesday morning. I am CPS gold so I get 3 day turnaround but they got it out in about a day and a half to overnight it back to me.
The only thing they didn't do was give me the shutter count I asked about.
Par for the course if you're a CPS member. I sent my 1Ds II to them to get the hot shoe replaced on a Monday, I had it back on Thursday after they volunteered to overnight it back to me. They're a fantastic group.
I sent my 7d in for cleaning. They replaced my focus screen because there was a scratch on it despite being out of warranty. But the camera came back with a dent on the VF housing and a crack on the pop up flash. Sent it back, they replaced the entire body chassis and perform another cleaning.
To me many products are comparable nowadays.. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Honda, BMW whatever. What sets a company apart is how it treats its customers. So far I have been impressed with Canon Canada's service.
