I just found out that my husband has a class in Huntsville, Alabama next week. So I'm going to to tag along and use the time for a little site seeing. I leave in eastern Oklahoma, and never been east of Arkansas.
I would love to hear of places that would be fun to visit/photograph around this area!
Whatdo you like to shoot? Space center in Huntsville ,botanical garden, in Huntsville wheeler nwr nearby has a blind that can be reserved, hiking/caving photos at walls of Jericho and other state parks also waterfalls. Northern AL birding trail, Nashville is nearby. Pm for more info.
I was in Huntsville this time last year to take my son to Space Camp. The US Space and Rocket Center as was already mentioned is fun to visit. We also had a great time at Cathedral Caverns which is only about 30 miles southeast of Huntsville
Monte Sano mountain is pretty, but hazy this time of year. If you like space stuff the Alabama Space and Rocket Center is the place. They have a relatively new exhibition hall that does a wonderful job of tracing the history of the rocket motors that took us to the Moon. That was a major job of the Marshall Space flight Center...testing rocket motors. They also have some rides in the park that might make your throw up.
