Everyone shooting near me told me that they really craved for pictures like mine, and when they found out that I was using a AF-S 28-70mm f2.8D lens that was out of production for a couple of years, they were even more impressed.
Ya! I know there are people saying that old film lenses does not work well on digital cameras.

No one on the Manual Focus Nikon Glass thread is complaining about how MF Nikkor lenses work on their D800 and D800E cameras...
If that is the case, then it is not the hardware or alignment issue but rather software that can be resolve over time.
I am aware that there are some true users having the left focus issue but the issue has been over blown by non users as well as rumour spreaders saying that they saw this over at some related websites or hear this from someone.
Even if they really have that bad single focus point, it is not going to stop a good photographer from getting good pictures.
And the next thing is that I am very sure Nikon will put up a fix for those affected or they will loose customers over time.
That's great, good reports are good news for me to hope that my next one will also be fine.
I think you will find it's an excellent camera, a big step up from the 5d2 and certainly on par with/superior in many ways (except built-in grip and 4fps burst) to any 1d/1ds series camera prior to the latest 1dx.
Outside of focus charts and batteries, I really haven't taken any pictures other than a quick snap of my fiancé. I was impressed just by that one. I can tell this is going to be a body that I really enjoy. It's going to take a little while to set up the custom functions, and I'll probably try to put the lens on the wrong way for at least a month.
I am not discounting there is an an issue. However if psuh comes to shove nikon, I, and deep down many out there in TV land know at least a small percentage of these returns are jsut buyers remorse and the focus issues makes it not have to fight with the manager of the store over it. manager if at say best buy probably would not know how to debunk a broke camera claim even if he wanted to.
We got several here with good rigs so far, jsut saying.
Any feet dragging Nikon appears to have I'd bet is corporate hititng up repair centers and getting "so how many non-bad ones we get today" reports and they are in decent supply.
Again not discounting an issue, but the jaded inner me knows some peeps got talked into a camera they didn't need, wouldn't know bad focus from actual bokeh/dof magic and this an easy out for em. We all see the same forums, the same questions RTFM is a proper reply or is stuff most learned in d90's, d700's, etc.
For those who got the short end of the stick for real....I do feel bad for you all.

You guys talk about the D800s but as far as I know is that camera not on the market and is there no talk about a "s" release.
Did I miss something?
The D800s will be the version with the focus issue fixed.
But did ANYONE here not understand what I meant when I said D800s in plural form? I think the exception would be valid if it wasn't a Nikon Photography forum...which means the exception should be considered as a specific colloquial use for layman's communication. It's Nikon Jargon 101 and most of us are cameranerds or wannabes.
Since Nikon sometimes adds an "s" onto the end of the model number when they make improvements, it would probably make it more clear to use the apostrophe. While there is no "D800s" at the moment, there is a "D300" and D300s". You might as well eliminate any ambiguity.

My God, we are even arguing about the "s!"
internet, gotta love it.
The greatest post in the world with life altering info for the betterment of mankind would still be torn apart by some anal person for grammer and spelling.
Should check out gaming forums. You could have valid points as to why a game sucks or is lacking and all would be discounted because the poster used there instead of their.
