They had the body for a total of 5 business days, so very quick turnaround.
The center AF fine-tuned at -5 to -10. The Left and Right fine-tuned at -15 to -20. So like others have reported, the Left/Right asymmetry appears to have been corrected at the expense of the center. But unlike others the compromise I see on mine might be within what I consider acceptable (just barely)
Here is a full comparison of Left/Center/Right at AF tune values of -5, -10, -15, and -20. I didn't do zero because it was obvious from the progression that it would only get worse below -5. Distance to chart was 4 feet 7 inches.
Here are my observations from this full data set:
.....Center AF Point: Sharpest at -10, worst at -20
.....Left AF Point: Sharpest at -20, worst at -5
.....Right AF Point: Sharpest at -15, worst at -5
Here are my conclusions from the above observations:
.....The Left/Right AF points are roughly symmetrical (plus/minus 3 AF tune ticks)
.....The delta between the Center and Left/Right is about 7.5 AF tune ticks
Here is how I will configure my D800+24G based on the above conclusions:
.....For general use I will configure my body for -16 (compromise)
.....For Left/Right use I will configure my body for -20

This "fix" is not acceptable at all! I rather just focus and recompose and take my chances than having to make this large adjustment to the AF tune. Nikon needs to get its act together.
Tamron 24-70 VC. Center tunes at -6 but Left trails at around -12 and right trails to -20, similar to the 14-24mm. First set is -20, where Left/Right are good but center is off. Second set is -6, where Center is good but Left is off a bit and Right is off significantly.

Just curious, has anyone done a similar test with a camera that has the CAM3000 or a Canon AF system? With no official response from Nikon and more technologies available to ferret out these issues and further insight into PDAF systems thanks to Lensrentals, what exactly are we dealing with here? Is this the new norm? Planned inconsistency?

Before I sold it I tested a 5DM3 with a 24L @ f/1.4 and it was perfect across the Left/Right/Center AF points.
