This kid and his mother were pleased that a foreigner wanted to take a picture. No common language except a lot of smiling.
wonder how those water melons tasted, as a child and even now on a hot day the watermelon would get put in a bucket full of icy water so it was extra tasty.

About the weather: this was Siberia in November. Even though the air was a bit nippy, there was a great variety of fresh fruit and vegetables in this open-air market. I presume, though, that the harvest season was near its end.
