Well today the postman delivered my new (2008) Canon 100-400 IS2 lens , so of course I had to try it. Purchased on FM this week ... lens seems minty, but does move ever so slightly in locked position on my 7D.
This evening I got a message from a fellow FMer who suggested taking a series of photos to test the lens IQ.
I couldn't find enough light on my deck to shoot at the suggested 1/500 speed so headed out to the yard to catch the better light when I nearly bumped into one of my evening visitors. She's hell on flowers, but my yard is mostly wild so creatures are welcome. Needless to say the test shots will have to wait till tomorrow.
I would guess this kritter is a young cottontail.
handheld shots using IS1 in fading light , hence the high ISO's ... last shot is a flower basket out of reach from the bunny..... but no doubt the deer will arrive soon. mmmmm flowers are so tasty.
Good stuff, Lucky.
I especially like the shot of the critter peeking out from the grasses and flowers.
And I like that you've subtly pointed out that pikas and rabbits not only look alike (except for size) but that they are related (and, of course, neither is a rodent- as I'm sure you know).

Not bad for such high ISO,,,congrats on the new glass, when I had that lens I found out htat stoping down at least to 6.3 gave me better results especially @ 400mm.
