p.2 #1 · Mount Assiniboine, British Columbia - Day 1

All are fantastic.

I notice that the background was brighter than the foreground (because of the sunshine) when you took the pictures but you have balanced it so well. I would really like to know how you could skillfully minimize the difference in brightness.

My pictures would have been much dimmer in the foreground if I had encountered such a scene (from my experience).

Thank you in advance.

LouisRGB: The first one seems to appeal or not depending upon whether you can imagine yourself in the trail. Glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

tjny: You are right the light was a bit more subdued than last October and that delivered better results but I have to go back for a sunny morning sunrise. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Milan Hutera: It is a 26km hike from one direction (Bryant Creek) and a 50% longer in the other (Sunshine). For me, the problem was carrying lens and bodies and tripods and then tents, food,... - so helicopter worked. $150 x 2 or so. Glad you like the rest. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

ckcarr: There are grizzlies there but they avoided me I saw some a couple of trips ago. But they aoid people. Glad you like 2. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

teddywish: The pano is a 9 shot combination, blending hdr and single shot. The others are 3 autobrackets, with 2-3 stops difference, depending on the scene hdr'd and blended with single shots. I think I will take another run at processing them though with manual blending because I see the sky changing from side to side on pano. Glad you like them, thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. No.2 and No.4 work for me but I agree that No.4 could do with a slight crop on the right to balance it better

Love them all. Not sure what I like best. I really enjoy the composition and reflection in some of the shots and very natural HDR.

Some beautiful shots of an iconic mountain and scenery. #4 is stunning! I'd frame it up if I had this photo.

Magnificent back country, and excellent images, Scott.
I'm a bit of a contrast freak, admittedly, but taking that into account, I'm thinking a bit more contrast would give all these images more snap- without blocking up any important shadowed areas.
Just $.02 worth .

Lovely scenes, all, Scott. I'm particularly liking the expansive view in the last, with the 2nd being close behind.

Another copter ride? I'm waiting for you to buy your own personal one so I can become your new best friend. Very nice pics - I love the last pano. How are you liking the 5DIII?

Gary Clennan: You are going to wait a long time. The 5diii is great. Dust control is way better. Autobracketing is way better (up to 3 instead of 2 stops). And for northern lights and milky way, I think a stop better. A little bit heavier and the battery seems to be shorter in life. But just for the dust control, its worth while. And surprisely, because I bought it for landscapes and northern lights and dust and autobracketing, and because of the 6fps and likely 2 stops over 7d, I am using it for wildlife as well. If it fits in your budget, I would upgrade. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

David Leask: I never tire of Assiniboine. Its always good even when I get rained or snowed out. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
