So FM friends I am going to put this out there for anyone that is interested....
2.5 week cross country car trip with me and Jackie. We are looking for 2 interested people to join us to cut cost and up the fun factor.
Dates are Aug. 6-23 (These dates are somewhat flexible we just have to be in the Bay Area by the 10th because I am shooting with Sam on the 11th.)
We will be driving and would have room for 2 people. We would be renting a car in Cleveland and driving to: Tahoe, Yosemite, SanFran/Bay Area, San Diego, Albuquerque, then back to Cleveland since Texas/Oklahoma kinda suck (no offense to anyone from there).
Cost would not be to bad most likely 250-300$ per person for the whole trip.
(That does not include food or anything else... just the vehicle and gas.)
Anyone interested does not have to live near us... if you are on the way we can get you on our way out. The north route (80) will most likely be our route of travel out of Cleveland but we are flexible.
You would need to be ok with...
Amazing photo opps
Camping in questionable places
Meeting the great Sam Hassas
Putting your feet in the Pacific Ocean
Checking out some art in New Mexico
Seeing tumbleweed
Stars at night
Hiking
Surfing
Cali Coast
General Nonsense
Talking shop 99% of the time.
Couples, individuals, etc. welcome! First come first serve basis. Also if you are serious be prepared to eventually shell out the money ahead of time so that we can cover costs... no paying at the end of the trip!

Aww shucks. I was just wondering if anyone had an epic vacation I could join in with. But since this one is just merely amazing I'll have to decline.
Real funny jokester!
I will not need any help in Cali but I might be available for lunch etc.
I suppose we will be driving through CO on our way...
Also I cannot believe no one is interested.
You can always come for part of it etc....
This will be a huge FM fail if you guys let me down!

We should totally have a photo party with the locals (SF Bay Area) when you get here! nikonftw wrote:
Doug you coming through San Jose and need a lunch?
Oh man, I'm all about road trips, and would've totally been down. However, I'm planning on taking my vacation in NY that time, so timing wise, it won't work. Not to mention I'm no where near you... haha. Sounds like a blast though. Doug and Jackie are awesome peoples. Sam's a stud. This should be a great trip in the making.

I'm sure it would be very difficult or impossible for many of us to take that amount of time away from the business. I couldn't even take a few days if I wanted.

clearly your business is set up incorrectly.
Yes clearly!
I will have stuff to do but can edit on the road. I also think that sometimes you need to get out and see/experience new things. I am very lucky to be able to do such things.
Jackie's best friend passed away suddenly about 8 months ago from a rare heart condition she never knew she had. We have always been fairly adventurous but as we assessed our lives we decided that we did not want to sit around thinking about all the things we wanted to do ... we actually wanted to do them.
Our business is important and we are very lucky we are able to go so many places and see so many things while we take pictures but life is about more than working. Life is short and you never really know whats ahead so we try our best to actually accomplish our "life" goals.
Diggler we are all busy but taking some time to be with family, travel, pick up a new hobby, start a bucket list, etc. I think can actually be a really good thing for people which in turn can and will improve your business.

That sounds reasonable. I wouldn't know, personally.
