About 5 minutes before we had to be out of the reserve (they actually have a camera at the exit with a time stamp and if you are late the driver gets fined and suspended so the mass exodus is something to watch) we joined the queue of vehicles viewing this large male tiger on the grassland fronting a dense forest. He moved back and forth never coming too close. So coupled with distance, low light and the excitement of the moment please excuse these less than stellar highly cropped shots. However, what I learned is that any photo of a tiger is precious and I am very very lucky to even have these. So take them for what they are worth...documenting the most beautiful cat on the planet gracing us with a fleeting appearance. And to impress on the tenuous nature of their existence this 550lbs dominant male was killed a few months later in a territorial dispute by a rival male (or so it is said)...in any event he is no longer patrolling the forest).

Great that you saw these cats in wild...must have been a wonderful experience...all these images are great as they show this cat's natural habitat. TFS
Wow Eric!!! Man that had to be something to see this little guy in person, yikes!!!! The white patches are cool, I had never noticed that before. The last shot just plain rocks buddy Oh to have these on my hd!

An excellent set Eric. I'd be happy with any of these, but the last is super ~ Ron
Thanks Ron, I hesitated putting in the last as I knew how much better it was. The first ones are rather large crops while the last was much less so and in much better light.

I agree with Ron. All are great, but the last one is superb! Must have been quite a thrill to see this big cat!
Jim, there is nothing that prepares you for seeing this cat. It truly is an awesome animal and it shows itself when it wants to.

wow, awesome! hope you weren't using a 35mm prime
On no, 10-22......no the last was shot with 70-200 at 200mm. I didn't have time to switch to a longer lens as it walked up the road.
