Both at F1.2 and both inspired somewhat by JuJu's marine photos, need to get down to the harbor and fishing places more often I think, they are great places to find objects :-)
What is the consensus on the 7-14 on the OM-D? I recently read about the "purple flare" issue, and am wondering whether I should chalk that up to forum hyperbole, or if it's a real problem? I've seen so many great 7-14 shots on this thread with no real mention of any difficulties.
It's a real phenomenon, but it doesn't crop up very often. It's not really flare, but sort of color reflection. I've had it show up in a few images, but it's rare. Here's an example photo where it showed up. From what I can tell, it shows up most often when there's very bright light in a very specific portion of the image, usually silhouetting or when it's seriously blown out. In most situations, it doesn't show up. You can also correct it to some degree using selective desaturation. I think I've only noticed in on 2-4 images out of about 260 I've taken with the combo (I'm amazed I've only taken 260 images with this combo, actually...)
Two from tonight with the Sigma 19mm f/2.8. Both shot wide open, hand held. The first one is straight out of camera B&W JPEG at ISO 3200. The second is at ISO 200, braced against a railing...RAW, conversion with Silver Efex 2.
