p.2 #1 · ASMP Membership? Worth a look?

Dennis, I do understand that. I was a member of the PPA a few years ago but didn't feel that they met my needs. My focus is on fine art photography while the PPA focuses on Wedding and Studio, that was the reason I left. I have not however looked at them again since then. I may do that next summer.

Regarding other benefits of PPA, I like the legal advice they offer and the indemnification trust. I do not believe that is a complete liability coverage but rather a sort of "Errors and omissions" coverage that a traditional liability policy would not cover. E.G. contract disputes and image loss etc.

Correct. Many people incorrectly assume the Indemnification Trust means they don't need insurance, but it is not insurance and does not cover the things a liability policy would. It covers some of what E&O would. If you're shooting at commercial locations (be they event halls or churches or industrial warehouses or rental studios), "but I have access to the PPA Indemnification Trust!" will not satisfy the $1M or $2M liability requirements.

The cost [of ASMP membership] is significant but it is a fact of professional life.

Unless you want to be listed in Find A Photographer immediately, you can join as an Emerging Associate for $140. It's not restricted to people entering the profession; it's the "getting on board for cheap" level.
