I recently visited Rutland Water to see if I could photograph the ospreys that are nesting there. Unfortunately I couldn't get anywhere near close enough, the population of these birds is still very low in England and they are quite rightly heavily protected. I didn't come away from my visit completely empty handed however...
No.1: A Little Owl was very obliging in posing for me (shame about the sky, it would have made a much better shot had it been blue). These owls are not native to the UK, they were introduced in the 19th Century and have adapted to their new home very well.
No.2 and 3: This Great Crested Grebe was nesting in front of a hide from which the osprey nest can be observed, consequently the hide is pretty busy with people coming and going, it didn't seem to be disturb the Grebe however.
