D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 400, 1/1600, f8, fill flash (SB910)
This is a continuation of “Oh Great”. In that post I stated that I’d taken even closer photos and these are the ones. One through five are at 3.16m and 6 is at the advertised 2.82m. If you wonder how I get this close my wife put a spell of invisibility on me so that other women can’t check me out.
The photos were taken at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island, New York this past Sunday.
Some friendly egrets you;ve got. I can't imagine a bird letting me get that close. Some really cool angles and poses here, and I also like your work w/ the DOF.

The third image is my preference. Selective focus (for whatever the reason) sometimes doesn't work IMO, but here the parts that are important are all in focus. And of course, I like the pose.
