On my property we have a RTH nest and have up to 7 of them flying/hunting at any given time. I got a few pics and then put the 1d3 in the garage and grabbed my 5d2 with my 24-105 to take pics of my grandson. Of course, I then see a smaller raptor chasing small birds through the trees and trying to grab them. I didn't get any good pictures, but am hoping someone can identify this bird with what I did get.
Thanks for the info. This gave me a place to start. It would appear that this is the wrong time to see a sharp shinned hawk in this area. However, in researching the SSH, it pointed to the coopers hawk. Seems they look alike, but the tail seems to give it away. The coopers hawk is longer and the banding looks like what I saw. Lastly, it is apparently common in this area. Hence, I believe it is the coopers hawk. I will look for it and see if I can't get some good pictures. Again, thanks for the input.
Thanks for the verification. I have not seen the Coopers for a few days. I see the RTH's everyday. Now that I am looking for the coopers, I am seeing kershels most days.
