Is there a way to search withIn a for sale post? It seems like the search function is only searching subject fields. So when someone posts a "FS: Huge Nikon Selloff" And they have a bunch of other brands within that post, its impossible to search it.
I think those 'all-in-one' ads with various brands, usually accessories or third party lenses, are listed only occasionally, none at the present moment. I think it would open up a can of worms if the seller was allowed to highlight other items not featured in the title and send them to a search or second list. How would they be removed if they were sold? The ad you post has to be self-contained. I don't see any problem with just clicking on the ad and looking at the contents instead of sentencing Fred to come up with a new program to cater to the very few. If the seller has items not sold he/she will probably list them separately which is what you are supposed to do in the first place.
If you want to do a search for a particular thing, you can always use Google. Here is an example of a Google search string for the FM for sale listings:
site:www.fredmiranda.com "FS:" Nikon lens cap
There are other modifiers you can use for time frames and other things.
You can also set up Google Alerts so that Google will email you when there are hits.
The Google search that I mentioned will find target words in the message body. The results will be mixed with any posts that also have the target words in the subject but it's pretty quick to scroll through the Google listings. You could also add parameters like
-"FS: Tokina"
to filter out for sale posts where a Tokina item is the subject item.
Really guys, it's easy. Just try it. You can find more info on search modifiers here:

But I can browse and find many examples of listings that mention "Tokina" in the message body within the past week.
Seems to work fine for me. The last post I see that had "Tokina" in the message body is 9 days old. What's an example of a post less than a week old with "Tokina" in the message body?

I posted a WTB for a Tokina 100mm Macro on June 6th.
I learned a lot of interesting things about FM and Google searches. Thanks everyone. The problem I found was that a FM search resulted in the mention of a product word within the body but not necessarily with any accuracy. Very random. The Google Real Time Search is great if you use their punctuation like --- Tokina:fmforums. It found some titled results but without key words within the body. The problem there is if the word is used in other FM forums it will show up there too... then you have to sift through all that stuff.

You've already "closed" that post. It may be that Fred has configured the message body search to ignore the message body in posts that have been marked "sold" or "bought." I don't know. Otherwise, I don't know why the search ignores the presence of "Tokina" in the message body.
