I wish Canon would eliminate video from it's cameras, lower the price and just make either a still or video dslr. Combining both raises the prices and for most photographers, the video feature is useless for their work. It does nothing but allow Canon to charge more for features not usable by some photographers.

It doesn't work that way. The cost of adding video to a camera at this point marginal, especially if that camera has a live-view function. In fact, I would not be surprised if it would cost Canon more to design separate processing boards for video+still and still only cameras. You might actually end up paying more for a camera without video.

That said, I'm really getting annoyed with the shifting on news websites from text/stills to video. I do not like sitting through a 30-second commercial and then a talky video to gain the bit of information I could get in ten seconds of reading text.

Hi there --= Amen to that -- I get really frustrated when I want to see a few instructions or get some simple documentation -- and everybody is obsessed with making the info you want only available by YouTube videos - usually with not very good sound either.

Having taught sessions for a while - Video CAN help but it's usually nothing like as good as having CLEAR concise TEXT that you can peruse AT YOUR OWN speed and go back and re-review the parts you don't understand tyhe first time through.

People are too obsessed with YouTube and the like these days.

I am worried...
I am worried about the number of wedding guests who film the entire ceremony on their iPhones, and take stills too.
I am worried about the number of wedding guests totting dSLRs and wanting to shoot over my shoulder as I try to get some family portraits on the beach after the ceremony.
I am worried about the bride who says "Uncle Jim will be there, he's got a really good camera ".
I am worried about every school kid having a mobile phone camera at the ready to film and encourage a fight in the playground or at the bustop.
I am worried that I am no longer the best darkroom printer in my local camera club.
I am worried that it takes me such effort to learn Photoshop but the young kids at my school can make a fantastic montage with layers.
I am worried about the 15 year old who made a great slow motion surfing video using Twixtor and I had to ask him "what is Twixtor"?
I am worried.........
