p.1 #1 · iPad or Android

I have a D300/D700. Just wondering how many of you use a tablet to transfer your images to either an iPad or Android to view your work while on the go.

I'm in the process of looking at a tablet to do just this and was wondering which way is the way to go for my photography. I probably wont do much editing on it but who knows.

Thanks

I don't transfer photos directly to my iPad, but I have my portfolio on my iPad 3. The beautiful screen with very high pixel density makes images look beautiful. I use it to show prospective clients my portfolio as well as to show them sample poses in the field during a shoot. Last Christmas, my employer gave everyone in the company an iPad 2. I have an iPad 3 now. Even people who hated Apple with a passion now love their iPads. As a result, many Android phone users even switched to iPhone. Now, Android phones are excellent, although they are heavily fragmented .. as in, very few older devices ever get new OS upgrades and it's not improving any time soon, no matter what google claims. Android tablets - only 1 person in the company I work for has Android tablets and he's on his 3rd tablet now. He had trouble with the Viewsonic tablet he first bought, then he bought an Asus Transformer Prime which has excellent specs. Again, it had trouble with the GPS. Now, he's bought some other obscure model from Samsung, I believe and he's now considering selling it and buying the newer Asus Transformer prime 2 or whatever.

If you want a simpler life, go iPad 3. You'll love the screen, there are excellent excellent Apps for almost everything, it is fast .. nothing not to love. You'll need to buy the camera connection kit. If you like constantly tinkering with your tablet and possibly buying multiple models before you find a good one, then go Anrdoid. AFAIAC, the only Android tablet worth buying is the el-cheapo Kindle Fire, but it sells because it's cheap - compared to the iPad 3 it is weak. And definitely not for a portfolio device.

well android has more freedom since it is not so locked down as ipads are

otoh the new ipad display makes everything else look like I joke

i never went for a pad before the new ipad, they are all too low res, reading stuff on them looks blocky and nothing like printed material and images on them don't look even close to magazine crisp while with the new apple pad at least things are heading in that direction
