The following images (posting 15) are from the the 2012 quarter finals womens NCAA LAX tounament, UNC #5 seed at Syracuse #4 seed.
Syracuse came to play posting a 4-0 lead in the first 5-minutes of the game. The score at the half.........7-7.
Syracuse came out hot in the 2nd half posting a 9-7 lead.
Twice later in the 2nd half, UNC had a 3-goal lead, the last being UNC 15-12.
At 3:47 left in the game, UNC had the lead 15-14 and control of the ball. What would you do if you were in this situation? Stall or score?
I realized a week ago there were only 3-games left in photographing my daughters LAX athletic career. The candle burned brightly for 8-years and went poofffff.......................... with 5-seconds left in the game.
Final score Syracuse 17 UNC 16.
All is well and I still have the love of my life, a great son and a camera. Oopps and a loving wife who lets me be me.
Damn, Ted, I feel your pain, though I've not experienced the competition at this level. You've already counted the things you have to be grateful for, and before long looking back on this you'll remember mostly the great success your daughter and her team earned over the years. Thanks for sharing the agony and the ecstasy, and best of luck all around.
Great images from what sounds like a heart-breaking game. The emotions look amazingly high in many of these images.
And how will you fill the void after following Beth's lacrosse career for 8 years? I haven't even begun to think about that part of this craziness (as I'm still shooting little ones).

Do I need to start shooting eagles?

Wow!!! Your best action packed set yet ya proud papa!!!!
Conrad.............thanks my friend.
Larry.............Shooting Beth in her sports was one of the great influences/motivators of my life. When the sports seasons ended......now what am I going to do
Wildlife and bald eagles were easy choices....so my recommendation, don't wait until they graduate HS or college.
Hey Ted glad I checked in on this set... highly impressive, with really outstanding compositions and crops. Great action and intensity throughout... it's a clinic for presentation.

Perhaps your finest to date, at least for capturing the pure emotion of the game. Obviously both teams wanted it and played all out. At the high school and collegiate level no coach, player, or fan can ask for anything more. Right now there is no joy in Blue, though I imagine there is a lot of shouting at Orange. In the end, one wins and the other goes home. Interesting how well the NCAA seeded the teams. They often aren't that good.
I'm sure there is sadness in the loss, but for you it stands as a marker of a daughter moving from girl to woman and beyond. Eight years is an amazing run. Feel the loss, remember the joy, and keep looking for the light in a player's eyes.
Ted - I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing your LAX sets since i joined FM and this one is one of the best. Great action, emotions and tells a story. Plus, as a fan of all ACC sports, I was rooting hard for UNC!
Best of luck to your daughter in her future endeavors.
