A couple of people have mentioned having a master thread, so here it is.
I will start it off with mine which will probably be the worst shots of the eclipse posted! I was at work, and not planning to shoot it, so the longest I could shoot with was a 120mm. Thankfully the D800 is a cropping beast! The eclipse happened about the time I was taking lunch, so I grabbed a welding helmet and went outside, grabbed my camera and shot through the lens in the helmet... Down here in SoCal, there was no ring... but it was fun to shoot for a few minutes.
Overexposing the shot caused flaring, which in the end, since there was no ring, seemed to appeal to me the best anyway.

Good ones anyway. Next time I know a bunch of other things I would do, like have a longer reach. But you are correct, with lots of pixels to start with, you can do a lot of cropping.
If anyone has ideas on how to process to make these more interesting etc. I'd love to hear, first eclipse work... Yes I know I should have had more filters, but it worked.

I like that you got something besides the eclipse and some black background. Maybe overexposure works because there is no detail to be had inside the sun with our level of camera gear (at least that's what I think).
I wanted to set the ISO to 50 because for some of mine I was maxed at f32 and 1/8000 even with an 8stop ND and a CPL. But I did not have my manual and the process for setting ISO50 is mind boggling. I now have it as a custom function for some other year when I need it.

Ben, I was also at F32 most of the time, with the ring, and I think for this burning tree one I dropped it to F29 if I recollect correctly. I don't have a ND filter, but I'm thinking about getting one. I was at L1.0 for my ISO, which I believe is 100 on the D90 and 1/4000 is my max shutter speed. It seemed overexposed throughout to me, but it was hard to tell, plus when I've got it maxxed out in every way possible, what more can I do.
I think I was pretty lucky to be able to sit in my back yard with a glass of wine and enjoy the eclipse like this.

neat images neat idea. I wish I had added at least a 1.4X to my 70-200. My filters screw into the front so that would not have been a problem and another full stop from the extender.
You also got the eclipse at sunset, it was all over here 20 minutes before it set.
The video crashed. Might be at my end however.
Ok, it crashed in Chrome but worked fine in Safari, neat video.

Here are a couple from the Mt. Shasta area.
Hey Kyle,
Nice work here on these, the clouds add a nice touch, and that is cool you were able to get a bit of a wider shot too with something else in the shot besides the sun and the moon!

Sequence from Shasta...Shoot with Canon 40D + 100-400mm (@400mm) + 1.4x = ~900mm
Unfortunately was not able to catch the end of the show due to clouds!

Nice thread! A couple of shots from the base of Mt. Evans Colorado. Shot with a polarizer and my 70-200 w 1.7 extender.
Looks like another Colorado shooter also had to deal with major clouds ... love the colors in that first shot and well done ... especially given the cards you were dealt.

More with the other camera at 24mm tonight once I create the composite.
Cool sequence Xavier! That's too bad about the clouds though at the end, but still a neat sequence.

Thanks Alek. I was holding on by a thread. I'm glad it showed, and the resulting sunset was pretty amazing!
