True, but why would you? I don't think that there are too many ultra-wides with a 67mm thread.
I use a hood even if I use a step-up ring for a CPL I have an 82mm CPL that I often use on the 24-70, so I need a step up ring. Easy to get on and adjust while shooting; occasionally a pain to remove when done, tho.
My CPL is thin and it doesn't make turning it any harder, in my experience.
Tomorrow I will be shooting the 400L 5.6 with a 77CPL on the 1DIII for nesting birds on the beach and the 70-200L IS F4 with a 67CPL on the 1DsIII for group shots when the flock is in the air.
I use a thin 77CPL on the 24-70L and a standard on longer lenses, also a 67CPL and a 72CPL and ND.
Changing filters is a drag and I always use a hood.
