No, but I do think in order to consider yourself a "professional" photographer one should have mastered every way to take an image, and use the "right light" to capture the best possible image. I find many people who've just gotten into the business use natural light as a crutch because they don't want to understand how to use flash. At the least a reflector should be used to bounce and sculpt some light onto the face, and put some sort of catch light into the eye. Rather than over-exposing the image to compensate for the lack of light in the eyes. (often resulting in blown out backgrounds)

so you have to use flash to create good photos and have your style now?

Blowing backgrounds ia the style now.
Ever since digi came along allowing you to shoot lowlight like never before, most dont bother using flash except for effect.

They didn't want to tell anyone, including vendors, what was going on. They didn't look for someone until the Thurs before. Like everything they do, they weren't focused on getting a big shot but wanted down to earth honest coverage of their special day. I applaud them.
Down to earth honest coverage, or minimizing the time for potential leaks? Maybe both! Most billionaires like to have total control of everything in their life.
Her work is beautiful. Period. Is she the best photographer who ever walked this earth? Hell no. But I think it's great to see a billionaire choose someone like this, it's good for the industry I think. Her work is obtainable by a lot of couples and it's relevant to today's style.
could they?? Do you really think they picked her b/c they honestly picked her after they SHOPPED AROUND, looked at 50 different websites, etc? Or do you think they picked her b/c A) she's local. B) her pricing starts at $15k+ and C) they may have gotten a referral.....OR, b/c they hired a wedding planner who said "OMG this is the best photographer in the area, you MUST have her."...
just a hunch, i doubt they "shopped around"....it was either through a planner, or a referral, and her prices were high. so they went with her.
I'm not hatin, i think her stuff is stellar, i just think that at that level, you're not "shopping" for a wedding photog.

This post is assuming a lot. Famous people have friends and internet connections too. When someone I know (who's both famous and rich) got married, they looked for a photographer just like everyone else. They got a referral from a friend, checked out their work online and hired someone that fit their style.
To assume that the person who is the single most important person in the world of technology AND photography (yes, I meant that) right now isn't capable of finding a photographer they like is quite an assumption.

pretty pathetic from Facebook founder, dont you think
No, not at all. How else do you ground the helicopters and media outlets. It's basically the only way to ensure privacy, and what a way to delight your friends. He shared it, including photos, freely openly and immediately after.
I've worked at Facebook for years and consider Mark a friend. Their approach to this wedding is so bad ass in my opinion. Not milking it, not making a big deal about it, just your closest friends and your favorite food from down the street with a normal photographer in a backyard. How cool.
The marriage was used to generate a news distraction and deflect the negative publicity of FB's lackluster IPO. Timing for people like this is never coincidental. Nobody's talking about the low stock price, they're talking about the wedding. Zuck is brilliant.

yea, what i am saying, it is funny, considering who he is. As you put it, it is even more funny.
It is like wedding photographer saying he went for no pro photographer on his own wedding because it is basically the only way to enjoy good photos from guests.
