That's just unbelievable.
I guess their next advice to the bride will be:" Go to Neiman Marcus to buy the wedding dress and insist on a discount. Talk to the store manager if they refuse to give discount. If still no discount, then go to a flea market instead. You are going to find a dress at a much better price in the flea market."

Yes the majority of brides who use theknot boards for Las Vegas weddings book photography for between $600 and $1000.
Even me, a person who does not perceive my work as worth a great deal, would not be willing to compromise on price in such a fashion because it represents a bad working relationship. I would refuse any bride who did this.

I need a link to the article because the next time that pesky salesperson from The Snot pesters me for their insanely high advertising or "preferred" vendor status, I will throw it back in her face!

Fair enough.
His blog received almost 400 "likes" on this post, who knows how many views on the post, and was retweeted hundreds of times. I think it's fair to say that even IF he didn't play a big role in raising awareness before the change, he sure as heck played a role in getting the word out on the old article, which was total garbage and people in the industry deserved to know about (even if Bobby had shown me the old article AFTER the new one replaced it, I'd still be glad to know how poorly they had acted).
But let's get back to editing and shooting, instead of arguing over a done deal.

"You'll talk budget right from the beginning.", "Ask How Much Things Really Cost", "Get an Itemized List", "first find out whether a potential vendor falls within your price range"
I'm afraid now it's yet another article on a big pile of articles that commoditizes wedding professionals.

The "be indifferent" advice is actually bad negotiating advice strategically. For my part, and I think for many on this forum, I'm much more inclined to work with a bride who is excited about my approach specifically, than I am to haggle with someone who can't or won't distinguish my approach from that of any other photographer.
