To answer a couple of questions... Yes, I will take some pics of the tripod and the tooth mark on the D4.
I did have bear spray, but chose to retreat instead of standing my ground. If the bear hadn't stopped at the camera and continued towards me, It would have been a different story. Also if it was a black bear I would have stood by the gear and made noise and the bear likely would have left me alone, if not, I had bear spray.
I wish that the pics of the bear knocking the camera over were better exposed, but I had a lot on my mind at the time.
I have been contacted by a photography magazine as well as a blog for another company who both want to cover my story, I plan to follow up with these soon
So glad you weren't a statistic! You saved your life AND the bear's!
Where in YNP were you? We were just hiking there last weekend (9 Mile Trail) and realized from the wet tracks and drops of water visible on the trail that we were chasing a bear... most likely grizz. We also had spray, but turned tail and got the heck out of there.
I commend you on your beautiful photographs!

I recommend calling and asking for the Marketing department or the Chief Marketing Officer - that will at least get you in the door! Good luck!
Thank you guys so much. I plan on calling monday. I will keep everyone posted. I went out and shot with everything today, and it is definately as great as ever. Not to mention when someone asked me how my wimberly lost it's knobs, I told them A grizzly ate them. They laughed and walked off.
While I didn't get my shot of the coyote yesterday, I found a really nice one today and got some shots, and like I said, I think the gear is working perfectly!
See - if you didn't have photographic evidence...nobody would believe you. This is like the old Timex commercials, or the Samsonite ads, but the best part is that it wasn't staged.
