I've seen these beauties before in Oregon, but only when I visited the sanctuaries in Florida have I ever been able to get close enough for photography.

Thanks Douglas, David, Tim, Tom, Birdie and Chris.
As with 95% of my other posts, these were taken several years ago using Kodak slide film.
Apparently my "wildlife instincts" back then were okay. What might be changing is that perhaps I'm getting a bit better with my scanning and processing. Of course, improvement is to be expected when you begin by knowing absolutely NOTHING!
I certainly appreciate all your kind words of encouragement.

Thanks kmunroe, Ron and KCollette.
In a way, it's ironic that the closer wildlife lives to people, the easier it is to approach them (often, if not always). You might think that they knew just how dangerous and unpredictable we are. "Is that a Canon he's carrying? Or a cannon?" Maybe birds are just poor spellers.
The frequently visited wildlife sanctuaries in South Florida are perfect examples of that.
Unfortunately- they're a long distance from Oregon .

Nice shots, Charlie. Kodak slides? Wow, you're giving away your age . Great work on the conversions.
Thanks Morris, Conrad, Jonathan, Don, JF and Dorian.
Hey, JF- no secret that I'm an old fogey slide shooter .
Some are needed to balance the young squirts who forget that 10 years ago digital cameras were crap, and serious picture-taking was still done using Kodachrome- the KING for 50+ years.
Signed: Charlie- a cheerful O'Fogey who used a lot of Kodak slide film through the years.
