So I've been mainly using photobooks as a cheaper alternate, but there is pressure to offer something with a higher finish (thankfully). This is a 12"x12" with a seamless spread across the spine area. I really need to order this by the end of the week, so any feedback is more than welcome...
I really love the photography! I have a few observations on the layout:
You have 15 spreads of the girls getting ready... it looks a bit heavy in that coverage. A few of the shots seem repetitious, like the larger shot on 13 & 14. Also, I'm not sure if the mix of colour and B&W in the same spreads works. On 35 with the lower middle picture... it looks like the gutter/fold will run right through her face.

Thanks for your help patty.
The bride was actually more keen on the morning photos (expressed so before hand of course when we met) than any other part of the day, so i was there for around 3 hours. I enjoy this more informal part of the day, so if I can try and show this as a strength I think I'd like to. Of course, that's something I'd talk about during consultation if showing this album. Having said that, I think I could perhaps cut down one spread, and also look at how the B&W mix... If it were me they'd probably all be B&W...
35 - good point. I'm curious, as I've never printed a "seamless" album like this, as there is no "break" between both pages, does it matter as much what's in the centre? I did try to avoid this in case, but stumbled here. Will there be a fold line of sorts?
I agree with pattyw about the getting ready pages; far too many. Is this a sample for you or are you saying sample layout for critique? If for you I definitely would eliminate more than just one spread of getting ready....even if it is for the client I would remove 2 to 3 spreads. Personally, I was tired of looking and almost skipped the rest because there are soooo many
I wouldn't worry about mixing b&w on spreads. There is nothing wrong with it. It's similar to those who don't care for selective color...it's a choice. Just make it work in your layout. I would say you should revisit what you have to better lay them out. Give meaning to why you have some color and other b&w. As it is now they look kind of all over the place without reason (to me).
Better then most. The face shots are too big. They will scream HUGE FACE in print. Make them smaller. The cake page needs 2 less pictures of cakes. The harmonized color and B&W pages mess with my OCD of wanting all color and all B&W. Some bother me more then others. Your key lines are not consistant.
Great album!! On spread 17 I would shrink the images on the left side and make the big one full bleed - it deserves to be "featured" Spreads 35 and 36 - to my eyes would have been better without BW. and in genera,l personally, I don't like mixing color and BW in the layout with multiple small images - it just breaks up the flow in my eyes...
Thanks Alex. I've now sorted the b&w mix so that the eye is led more naturally around the spread.
II've put it on order now, so please no more suggestions lol. I removed the page on my website these were coming from, yet they still appear here... Mysterious... I will try again to take them down...
Anyway, thanks again for all the feedback. I went over & tweaked things this morning before ordering, happier with it now... hoprfully I'll get to see it in a week or so...
