p.1 #1 · What are your frequently asked questions?

Hey guys, I have been stalking here for quite a while gathering great information. I want to add a "Frequently Asked Questions" section to my website to help save time for clients.

My question to you is, what questions to clients frequently ask you?

And another question I have, what do you tell clients to wear for engagement sessions? I am a fan of the jeans and solid (mainly white) colors for family shoots, which is 95% of my business, so I am unsure on how to direct engagement shoots.

Ready, set, go!

Thanks for all the help and support guys, I wouldn't be the photographer I am today without Fred Miranda and everyone on these forums!

You're in the business. How about use the questions that clients frequently ask you? That's what I did.

Kinda tongue in cheek here, but these are not soooo uncommon...

1) Can you do it cheaper? ( Of course - but I'm not going to )

2) We're on a budget, how cheap can you do it or cash? (Err.... no sorry, we're a legitimate business and I prefer not to take my vacations in prison for tax evasion - but thanks for asking )

3) We're having a friend shoot the evening, how cheap can you do the ceremony and all the groups (in what was the darkest hole in the entire city which is why the friend didn't want to do it!)? ( Same price as the entire day Thanks for asking )

4) How much discount for mid week? (How much less would you like me to shoot and deliver ? )

5) How much discount for a sunday? (Err..... it costs more for Sunday )

6) How much discount for a public holiday? (Errr..... Double!!!! )

7) How much discount for new years eve? (Errr.... Tripple! )

8) We don't think an album is worth it, can we just get all the images on disc at the end of the night? You cost would only be $xxx for the disc and Uncle Bob said he'd shoot it for nothing, so can you do this for $50 ? We only need you there for 10 hours! (See-Ya!)

9) Can you shoot with our camera and just hand it back at the end of the night with all the photos on it? (Yeah - for 10x the price I can use your camera!)

10) We don't want you all day because we don't get married until 4pm so that should be less than half price right? (Errr.... yeah, but then there is the reservation fee that locks out the rest of the day - and that's equal to my usual fee )

11) We've spent all our money on the car and favours and suits and the dress, so there's no money left for photos. Can you do it for free and use the photos for your portfolio? !!!!! ( Thanks for asking. Would you like to hear one of "my" jokes now? )

I know some of this may sound exaggerated, but I've heard all these and more...

My usual reply is 'no, but thanks for asking'.

The point is that I'm NOT in the business yet. I have had maybe three clients.

In that case, I wouldn't post a FAQ section yet. Wait until you know what you want to say to your prospective clients. The only way you'll develop that is in time. Saying too much about the wrong things -taking them places you don't want them to go- can be worse than saying too little.

Here's an old thread regarding clothes for e-sessions:
www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/632323/

It's been discussed other times; maybe check Ale's links on on the "don't miss" threads? If it doesn't give you that info, it'll at least be a very worthwhile side-trip!

Yep, unfortunately most questions are about prices. Be prepared to answer them and justify why you are so expensive- no matter how much you charge

Can you make me look.thinner?

Can you Photoshop my wrinkles/mole/acne?

Can I just get a disc with images?

I need the copyright and the RAW images.

We're photographers so we can do all the retouching/editing ourselves.

Can you just email the images instead of burning a disc.

Why are you taking a picture of that?

This isn't all the pictures. Can I see the ones you didn't send.

We're saving all our money to bring Jesus/medicine to Haiti/Uganda/Mars can you work pro bono? The wedding will be at the downtown Hilton with 500 guests.

Do you use a Nikon D4 with L glass? We heard that is the best camera for photographing weddings. The photographer we hire needs to have that.

Can you take pictures like this? (shows you another photographers portfolio)
