p.1 #1 · 5diii wedding review

So, I wanted to share my thoughts on the 5d3 as a wedding camera. Hope it's useful to someone... http://www.phildweddingphotography.co.uk/index.php/2012/05/canon-5diii-for-weddings/

I'm a Canon shooter so there's no much more than a cursory glance at other cameras...

No doubt some will agree and some will disagree

What I've found is that I REALLY like the silent shutter option. In fact, I leave my camera in this mode nearly all day.

I have also noticed that the metering is most closely tied to the AF point, resulting in more accurate exposures and less need for exposure compensation. It may be subtle, but I find AWB more accurate than in previous 5D models. I'm doing less color correction on my 5DIII files.

I've been so happy with the camera, I bought a second one - regardless of the high price.

I have silent shutter on all the time...it is definitely one of my favorite new additions (I was even stoked about it before I even had the camera in my hands)

I'm really impressed with it too.

I was a little concerned that silent might affect the 150k shutter actuations, but I can't find anything in the manual.. so that's good news However, it does slow down the shutter slightly.

I've added some images from a wedding if anyone wants to take a look.

ISO8000!

These types of ambient light shots would have been especially difficult to capture with the 5dii:
