Im considering one of these rather than a Scrim Jim or SkyLite. Looking for any feedback from
Anyone that's used these. My concerns are strength, durability and quality if scrim fabric.

They're the Rolls Royce of panels with a price to match. If money's not an issue, I'd take a California Sunbounce over everything else any time. The frames are nicer, the fabric is nicer, and they have a better selection of fabric patterns than many other brands.

A 5' X 7' -- 5 in 1 off of Ebay works just as well and folds up like a regular circular reflector(and you get the other features of it too!). Went the ScrimJim and LastoLite route... Now I use common sense and just save the dosh.

I prefer Scrim Jim over the Sunbounces. The fabric attachment is superior on the Scrim Jim compared to the Sunbounce. I've had several panels wear out where it stretches over the corner of the frames on the Sunbounce.

If the panel never touches the ground it's OK, but as soon as your assistant or you rests it on the corner the corners start wearing out due to the stress on them. I've never worn out a Scrim Jim panel.

Scrim Jim will do whatever you need, easily, and at less cost.

Regarding Sunbounce vs Scrim Jim, what are the (mechanical) grip options? From prior threads, I dimly recall matters of nonstandard hardware. I want to use a standard knuckle.

Scrim Jim uses a standard knuckle, but the knuckle is used to hold this clamp, which holds the panel and allows it to rotate:

Thanks, photobear! A Scrim Jim essential, it seems. Now perusing some Matthews grip gear...

I use California Sunbounce and have nothing but good things to say about it. I have the Pro Sunbounce and Sunswatter, both awesome tools, when needed.

I'm a fan of California Sunbounce, built lightweight, portable, and I've used them for ten years now. I'm new to this forum, but plan on participating more. When it comes to lighting, I look at lighting as the "light blood" of the image, so I'm about quality lighting and CSB products nail it on the head.

I have a couple CSB reflectors and the Giant Sun Swatter.
There things get the job done, provided you have the assistants needed to handle them.
