p.1 #1 · What to check on a used 1D?

What should I check upon receiving a used EOS-1D? Appears to be a 2003 model, came with the box, etc.

Latest Firmware version?

Any 1D specific things one should look out for?

1. Check if there is any dead pixel.
2. Upload to file to shutter count.com to see how many actuation.
3 Get out there and shoot and keep-on shooting.

Check & see how much longer Canon will be offering support for that body (if indeed they still do) .. as bodies go it's a bit of an oldie with parts & repair becoming more scarce.

Unless you have strong reasons for your 1D purchase you may want to consider the MK2 version .. much improved in many areas.

The 1D has been out of Canon support for a couple of years and the 1DII has also just reached 'end of life' status with Canon as well. Hard to say how much longer 3rd party repair shops will continue to have parts available for either one or at what point it will not be economically feasible to repair...in fact, the 1D is probably at that point already. Still, there is one very compelling reason to still use a 1D...extremely high native flash-sync speeds. I use two just for that reason. BTW, I get well over 1,000 shots per Lenmar replacement batteries.

Omar
