p.1 #1 · Best small (budget) tripod head

So, I have the really cool Benro Travel tripod (the one that folds flat) and need a head.

I need a good head (not big like my Manfrotto), but compact and strong.

Really don't want to spend a lot, but need it to be solid.

Gear will be a 5d2 (no grip) and either 17-40 or 135L attached

Thanks

greg

I have the smaller kirk ball head (BH-3) and have been very pleased with it. I think it is rated to hold 15 pounds and it has full size knobs, good for winter in MN

I had also looked at the really right stuff ball heads. They had one similarly sized and one that was even smaller/lighter, with about half the load rating. Your 5D2 + 135L would be under 4lbs so I'm sure it would be strong enough.

Acratech Ultimate Ballheads are small and strong... but perhaps not cheap enough for your needs?

I have been in the same boat and have been looking hard at the Kick BH-3

Don't flame me, but these simple ball heads (tons like it) seem to have good reviews:

I know, you get what you pay for, but for one trip (remember, I have a heavy-duty Manfrotto), I cannot justify spending more than $50 or so on a head
