Without looking at a globe, my recollection of grade school
Geography has pa further south, and closer to the equator than canada.

It was my understanding, closer to the equator = warmer.

Well, Rob, Canada has a rather large land mass......in fact, it's somewhat larger than the State of Pa. Therefore, our climate varies a lot.......from nearly sub-tropical Toronto, to rather harsh winters of Newfoundland and Labrador.

I didn't disappear - in case some of you got worried.

- "well he is from Canada,"
Didn't I write "trust me"?

-"Son, I sure hope you are trying to be funny"
Daddy, I'm trying, I'm trying….
BTW, are you sure you're older? How many wrinkles do you have? Got any hair left?

That's true. I was in Toronto once, and saw palm trees and jumping monkeys - nice "
Not like Moose Jaw which is not so close to the equator : -)

But I digress: Another new Canon screw up. It must be Friday 13th.

"Zyberk, thank you for bring this thread back on track." No dilemma senior :-)))

I finally took time to read comments on this thread and frankly I am surprised.
My msg. was understood by those who were not born yesterday or who follow Canon announcements.
Somebody even made a joke providing "Google translation".
Someone also asked what 1Dx has to do with Olympics?
Well, major camera makers always ready their new flagships for the major events and provide them to the pros.

After long wait I expected delivery of 1Dx and mid range zoom this month. Instead there are extra delays. I think I'll be lucky to get the equipment mid summer. Hence my post. I'd switch to Nikon, but my experience with their customer service and support was horrific while Canon has been excellent.

In view of recent history of Nikon vs. Canon cameras I have to say that Canon has disappointed their customers.
Their inability to mach D3s and D3x performance is discouraging. Looking only at the USB cables it shows that Nikon has superior EMI engineering and this, at least partially, explains their cameras superior noise and DR characteristics.
What Canon users witness presently is the company who left still photographers in the cold and put all priorities on video.

One interesting tidbit is that 5D3 µProcessor isn't Canon's own. So, the question is if their foundry was completely clogged with productions of the video chips or their silicon process is too old to make high MP sensor with low noise and high DR. If the latter is true, then Canon users waiting for new high MP cameras from Canon may experience a long wait. If not, will Canon repeat the D60 stunt on the current 5D3 owners.

From my point of view the 5D3 was almost a Fool's Day upgrade. The new viewfinder, power switch relocation, better AF, for those who use AF, are all good news, but what about DR and noise at the base ISO? I'm ignoring megapixels since I don't need more.
What I'd like to see is 15 stops DR at ISO 25 and 64, properly implemented mirror lock up, better LCD which is visible in bright light and selectable and downloadable features allowing user to select them, make a file and upload it to the camera (like the fm updates). This would be a great leap in the camera UI ergonomics. Current implementation of the menus/submenus and UI are abysmal.

See you next year.

The problem is the HUGE gap between the Canon 1DX announcement and it's final delivery. It's pretty clear it was nowhere near ready to go but from a PR standpoint they were simply desperate back in the Fall knowing that Nikon had the D800 and D4 ready to go. You get the same feeling about the 200-400 f4, a zoom that many pros have wanted for a long time. Once again, Canon announces something that is far from ready in what looks like another PR move to stave off a migration to Nikon. Not that Nikon's track record on fulfilling orders is all that great but they at least release the products.

I think the Olympics is a very big event for this camera given that Nikon will be showcasing the D4. I would imagine Canon is doing everything in their power to get it there.
